About the Trails

These trail systems are so new that Google hardly recognizes them when queried. If you have never been to the area, you'll find it a bit like an ice cream sundae; there's some great chunky texture and a lot of smooth, creamy swirl. The scenery is filled with muddled strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, and butterscotch colored terrain with an odd, occasional squirt of blueberry, all served up on upside-down evergreen cones.

The Tilted Mesa Trail Network was built in 2023. It covers 400 acres of public BLM land 10 miles east of Kanab. It currently contains 16 miles of single-track trail specifically designed for mountain and e-biking. The system spans three uplifted mesas that provide incredible views into the Grand Staircase Escalante. Moderately challenging trails are arranged in a stacked loop format that provides options for more challenging routes. Sections of flow combine with techy slick rock features, interspersed with drops, rock rollers, small wood features, and technical climbs. A single loop like a single scoop of ice cream, never satisfies one completely.

The Applecross Trail Network lies just east of Zion National Park at over 6300 feet elevation and includes 40-plus miles of purpose-built single-track. The e-bike-friendly trails range from very easy green to double black diamond difficult and include well-built wood features, high berms, rollers, jumps, and drops along fun and flowy one-way, downhill loops. Each pedal-friendly uphill route meets the downhill route on a wooden lookout platform where glimpses into Zion’s Temple Mesa through the pinon pine, juniper, and manzanita brush are like sprinkles on top, a treat.

As of March 2025, the Rancho Amor Trails System is in the process of being built. The setting is a private ranch that is nestled in the foothills of Kanab’s vermilion cliffs on the southwest edge of town. With over 36 miles planned, the trail system promises to have something for every level of rider with lots of syrupy sweet flow trails combined with some natural, chunky-monkey flavored technical features. Future access to these trails will be only by invitation or paid, guided ride. One of the coolest parts of this setting is that the ranch is home to a small herd of longhorn cattle that are not in the least bit camera-shy.

Scenic Gravel Trails

Whether you are new to the trails or just looking for a fun, social ride, this is the perfect way to see some of God's country. Join us on one of our daily guided bike rides. These no-drop rides (meaning no one gets left behind regardless of pace or mechanical issues) are perfect for gravel, mountain, and e-bikes. Rides will include stops at geological, archeological, and historical points of interest. Let's ride, relax, and enjoy the trails together!

Friday's ride along Shinarump Mesa will provide beautiful views and geological points of interest that will intrigue and delight riders. We'll cover about 12 miles on a two-track dirt road with sections of gradual incline, a few mild technical sections, and some fun, flowy downhills. We will shuttle to the trailhead and stop to enjoy lunch midway on the trail at a point that overlooks the valley below.

Saturday's ride up Cottonwood Canyon on Rancho Amor will be about 20 miles round trip. The ride will start along paved roads that will take us through neighborhoods on the edge of town, then we'll ride a graded dirt road to the canyon mouth, where we'll enjoy lunch. The sights will be fantastic; red rock cliff backgrounds dotted with giant cottonwood trees flashing their fall colors.  It is also likely that we will see some of the magnificent longhorn cattle that graze the ranch.

Sunday's ride up Johnson Canyon will provide incredible vantage points of the vast expanse of cliffs, bold and brazen, rising on either side.  As you ride the paved road into the Grand Staircase, you'll pass the old Gunsmoke film set, idyllic country farm houses, and fields with horses grazing before sandstone walls. The visual stimulus is cranked up a notch at the eight-mile mark, as the road climbs through the steep white cliffs, which contrast starkly with the juniper and sage below.  Sunday morning traffic is typically very light on the paved road. We'll shuttle close to the road's start and be back before lunch.
