Three Amazing Trails

These trail systems are so new that Google hardly recognizes them when queried.

The Tilted Mesa Trail System is just 10 miles east of Kanab. The trail system covers 400 acres and currently consists of 16 miles of single-track trail designed for mountain biking. The system spans three mesas and incorporates a stacked-loop system with interconnecting trails to provide variety. Slick rock sections and flow trails combined with technical features like drops and rock gardens provide varying degrees of difficulty. Scenic vistas and an ice-cream-sunday variety of sandstone coloration make this system as beautiful as it is fun to ride.

The Applecross Trails system lies just east of Zion National Park. It ranges in elevation from 6,000 to 6,800 feet. There are now three phases consisting of 40-plus miles of purpose-built single-track. The trails range from very easy to very difficult and include numerous features such as well-built wood features, high berms, rollers, jumps, and drops along fun and flowy one-way, downhill loops. Glimpses into Zion through pinon pine and brush are a treat. This trail system is a quick 30-mile drive from Kanab.

As of March 2025, the Cottonwood Ranch Trails System is in the process of being built. The setting is a gorgeous private ranch that is nestled in the foothills of Kanab’s vermilion cliffs on the southwest edge of town. With over 36 miles planned, the trail system promises to have something for every level of rider, with lots of flowy trails combined with great natural technical features.

Scenic Gravel Trails

Whether you are new to the trails or just looking for a chill, social ride, this is the perfect way to see some of God's country. Join us on one of our daily, guided bike rides. These no-drop rides are perfect for gravel, mountain or e-bikes and suited to all riding levels. Rides will include sightseeing stops and a lunch break. Let's ride, relax, and enjoy the trails together!

Friday's ride along Shinarump Mesa will provide some beautiful views and several geological points of interest that will delight riders. We'll cover about 12 miles on a two-track dirt road. We will shuttle to the trailhead and stop for lunch midway on the trail.

Saturday's ride up Cottonwood Canyon will be about 20 miles round trip along paved road to the edge of town and up a graded dirt road to the canyon mouth where we'll enjoy lunch. The sights will be fantastic; a background of red rock cliffs dotted with giant cottonwood trees flashing their fall colors.  It is also likely that we will see some of the magnificent longhorn cattle that graze the ranch.

Sunday's ride up Johnson Canyon will provide great vantage points of the vast expanse of cliffs, bold and brazen, rising on either side.  As you ride into the Grand Staircase, you'll pass the old Gunsmoke film set, idyllic country farm houses, and fields with horses grazing before sandstone walls. The visual stimulus is cranked up a notch at the eight-mile mark, as the road climbs through the White Cliffs, which are steep and stand in stark contrast to the juniper and sage below.  Sunday morning traffic is typically very light on the paved road. We'll shuttle close to the road's start and be back before lunch.

Food and Beverage

We'll have more information on this topic to come but for now, know that there will be food trucks and a Utah brewery  on site.

Entertainment

We'll have live music Friday and Saturday throughout the day and into the evening. More on who and when to come!

Rental and Demo Bikes

If you don't have a bike, don't worry! There will be bike rentals available through our local bike shops. If you are in the market for a new ride, there will also be demo bikes available for you to take for a spin. More on this coming soon.
