EDUCATION
/ CAREER HISTORY:
I
was
first educated in the fine arts of Video and DJing with my first
musical mentor, DJ Extraordinair and Science Teacher Ulysses Gallman.
Ulysses was famous throughout Rhode Island as a DJ and an entertainer
in the late 80's and early 90's with his unique style of producing
a party. Between 1988 and 1990, I had worked with Ulysses and his
Cable Access Show called "Ulysses and his Party Thaaang!"
with me as his camera man. We would video tape the parties we did,
and edit them into dance segments for the show. I can tell you I
got quite an education with him, not only in operating a camera
and editing for broadcast television, but I also got first hand
knowledge of what it meant to truly be a good DJ for a
party, and how to produce it all. Uly was amazing. He knew the ebb
and flow of the crowd and showed me how an event breathes and grows.
I then got inspired to produce my own TV show. Since Ulysses had
the Dance Party Thaaang down, I wanted the Rock Star TV show, so
I created Rock Syndicate
in 1990. It was a variety show where we interviewed famous and up
and coming rock and metal bands, as well as shooting videos of local
bands and short comedy skits. We even got hate mail, I was so proud!
Two shows later doing the camera, editing, directing, and being
the host of the show, I was completely hooked on the career.

About
a year after High School working as a carpenter, I continued on
in construction at General Dynamics as a Pipe Fitter installing
circuitry conduits in the 688 Fast Attack Submarines for the Navy.
Since I wanted to learn Audio and Video Production and Business,
Lay Offs from the ship building facility provided a healthy severance
pay, and an opportunity to attend college at the Art Institute
in Philadelphia in 1991 to do just that. I then went on
to work at Sigma Sound Studios (with Patty LaBelle,
Cindy Lauper, and the Hooters), and later moving on to Crystal
Taylor Systems to work as an audio engineer and lighting
tech on stadium sized live installations.
My
education then made an abrupt change when I started playing around
with computers and technology. I turned my sights to programming,
and graduated with high marks a year later in 1992 from The
Computer Learning Center with a certicate in Computer Programming
for C++ and COBAL. While in school, I was working as a temp providing
adminstrative duties at Core States Bank, and learned much from
the many exectuive banking staff about Fortune 500 business practices.
I then took this knowledge to New York City, specializing in Lotus
Notes Development for the Wall Street and Insurance firms. When
the internet started picking up massive support, I then shifted
my programming focus into the web page and server technologies.
I
continued my musical passions throughout the 90's with working on
musical projects like Enlightenment, and Gauge.
I also attended SUNY Purchase continuing education
classes with Jim MacElwain and others. Jim is legendary thoughout
the recording industry with his understanding of music and production.
It was an honor to have taken his classes. The 2000s soon found
me in more audio career orientation while working at Sam Ash's recording
department, and as assistant Head Engineer at the world famous Le
Bar Bat formerly at 57th and 8th Avenue in New York City.
Without
ever leaving my true love of audio and video production, I have
constantly kept myself engaged in emerging media technologies, which
brought me to discover touchpanel control and systems integration
with Crestron. I then brought myself to Crestron
Institute to learn the programming language of SIMPL, which
is the magic that drives the Control Systems they offer that integrate
Audio, Video, HVAC, Security and Lighting Systems within residential
and commercial applications. Having the privilage of working with
Audio
Command Systems for over a year and a half (#1 luxury
Installer 3 years running), I was schooled in many advanced design
and integration techinques and A/V equipment and served a very exclusive
level of clientel in Manhattan, Connecticut, Westchester County,
and Long Island. After a long stint with some amazingly technical
people, I dedicated myself to doing A/V and Crestron projects for
my own clients.
As
you will see on this page, I am an artist myself, and an entrepreneur.
I do not want to be an advocate of any specific pop trend, but I
believe in two popular cultural phrases put into one: No
Fear, Just do it. Above that, I strive for an even
higher level of quality, one that I would personally expect, as
the standard I use for those I serve in all my endeavors. Some call
it luxury, I call it a benchmark.
My
own passion for art, media, and electronics has given me a unique
path in my business career. They do not pollute the world, and attempt
to make our lives better. Anything that can improve art or media,
or how we live our lives, I'm all for it and will most likely be
doing something new with it eventually.

Since I was a kid, I always picked up some instrument and tried
to figure out how it worked. Guitar, bass, drums, perscussion, and
synth/drum programming is what I've been able to learn, and I love
it all. Eventually I moved to New York, where I also took courses
at SUNY Purchase, learning song writing and arrangement under Jim
MacElwain. His descriptions of musical structure and human binaural
perception were astounding, and the production techniques that stemmed
from that musical intuition were enlightening to say the least.
I
also had the privilege to work with Grammy nominated guitarist Joaquin
Lievano, assisting him with various recording projects and bands.
One of which was called "Enlightenment" in which I was
lead singer. Eventually I went on to create my own projects and
was front man and rhythm guitarist for the mildly successful local
band called Gauge
in 1996.
As
I kept writing music and playing in different bands, my recent stint
was with the NY City based group The Violets. I wish them all the
success in the world! Now, the FM
Sygnals are my new project that is, let's just call it Experimental
House.

My
teachers in Martial Arts, Meditation, and Human Development have
always expressed an interest in allowing the human spirit to speak
for itself - and express itself creatively, naturaly, and fully.
These teachers, who range from Martial Art Stage Combat professionals,
to those journeying into the deepest voyages into the human mind,
have given me an immense humility that allows me to create my life
in service to others.
This
website is merely one of those expressions. I love lightsabers.

ARTIST

Flynn
has been performing, modeling and acting since the late 80's, on
stage, both runway and print, and television.
"I've
been involved with props, costuming and creative expression
since I was a kid. I once signed up for a jewelry class because
I was working on a Freddy Kruger glove and needed to learn how
to attach steel to copper. They're not compatible metals that
can be soldered together. I needed to use silver solder. I think
it came out great, but I still don't understand why the other
students were so intimidated by it. :/"

| Along
with being involved with DJing and remixing (aka DJ
Master Flynn) and coordinating backstage at large
events and live pro-audio engineering, Flynn has been involved
in every aspect of music and video production. "I just
love producing artistic stuff. Music, dancing, acting, modeling,
video, I love doing something different and learning more about
art and expression." Flynn's work has even extended into
Luthiery with making several guitars, among which is his interpretation
of Steve Vai's old Flame guitar. "I added shaped and smoothed
contured edges that Steve's original didn't have. It really
looks like a flame now, and plays rather nice." |

Recently,
I've been blessed with working with many new and aspiring and well-known
Actors, Film Makers, Fighters, and Dancers that create such an amazing
world to watch a story through. My latest completed project was playing
a "Goat Warrior" in Radius
5 Films' River
of Copsa Mica. I got to wield one HELL of an axe! It was made out
of a pelvis bone. I am happy. Not only was I able to work with some of
the most amazing make-up people, costumers and crew, but the group of
actors I was working with can not be explained any other way than magical.
Director Ryan Uzilevsky assembled not only some of the most beautiful
and talented dancers, martial artists, and actors to help tell his story,
but he was able to create an atmosphere of pure magic under a Harvest
Moon (for a cold, 3 day, all-night long shoot), around a burning fire
that inspired his ensemble to create some of the most spiritual music
I've ever been given the grace to participate in. The drums, flute and
the voices were stunning. Thank you my Copsa Micans! |
